President Hichilema’s Diplomatic Itinerary Unveiled: Germany and Italy Engagements

President Hakainde Hichilema is embarking on a strategic journey commencing with his attendance at the Fifth Conference on the G20 Compact with Africa in Germany. Scheduled for November 20th in Berlin, this conference aims to foster discussions on trade, investment opportunities, and cooperation in African emerging markets, particularly in the energy sector.

According to Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Stanley Kakubo, the President’s participation in Germany follows an invitation extended by Chancellor Olaf Scholz of the Federal Republic of Germany. Subsequently, President Hichilema will embark on a State Visit to Italy from November 21st to November 22nd, upon an invitation from President Sergio Mattarella.

The engagements in Italy are poised to bolster bilateral relations, focusing on shared values and mutual respect between Zambia and Italy. President Hichilema is slated to hold talks with President Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, addressing various bilateral and multilateral issues.

Moreover, President Hichilema will engage with key heads of international organizations such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Discussions will revolve around reinforcing collaboration in areas crucial for Zambia, including food security, rural development, and poverty reduction.

The pinnacle of this visit will be the Zambia-Italy Business Forum, spotlighting Zambia’s investment potential and avenues for joint ventures. Minister Kakubo emphasized the significance of these diplomatic efforts, citing their pivotal role in fortifying Zambia’s economy by fostering partnerships and trade opportunities for the nation’s welfare.
