STOPPILA SUNZU FIRES CANGZHOU MIGHTY LIONS TO VICTORY
Stoppila Sunzu found the net for the second goal as Cangzhou Mighty Lions secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Changchun Yatai on Wednesday. This win marks back-to-back victories for the Lions and their third win in the opening five games of the Chinese Super League season.
Sunzu, who signed a season-long contract with the Mighty Lions running until December, started at the heart of the defense for his side. With their sights set on a second consecutive win, things took a turn for the better early on when Changchun Yatai’s Abduhamit Abdugheni received a red card in the 15th minute. A last-man challenge was initially shown as a yellow card, but VAR intervention upgraded the punishment to a red card after review.
The numerical advantage played directly into the hands of the home team. They capitalized on the situation just two minutes before halftime when Congolese international Oscar Taty Maritu opened the scoring for Cangzhou Mighty Lions.
Sunzu further solidified the lead just two minutes after the restart of the second half. The Zambian defender doubled his side’s advantage with a well-placed goal.
Despite the man advantage, Cangzhou Mighty Lions couldn’t manage to add to their lead. However, Sunzu’s goal proved enough to secure all three points and propel them to fifth place on the league table with 10 points from their five games.
