CAF Investigates Morocco Vs Congo Post Match Drama
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has initiated an investigation into the post-match incidents during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 fixture between Morocco and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Morocco and the Democratic Republic of Congo played to a 1-1 draw in the Group F second-round match on January 21. However, post-match tensions arose between Moroccan coach Walid Regragui and Congo captain Chancel Mbemba But Was Quickly Controlled By Both Teams Members.
The tension was however sparked when a Moroccan player was reportedly seen pursuing The Congo Captain as he was heading to the dressing room which sparked an even greater tension between the two camps.
Reports suggest that the DR Congo FA has lodged a complaint with CAF for disciplinary action against Moroccan players involved in the alleged attack on Mbemba as he headed to the dressing room.
CAF has stated that it will withhold and not make any further comments on the matter until the investigation concludes.
