A Lusaka West Woman’s 14-Year Marriage in Jeopardy for Blocking Husband’s Side Chick on His Phone

A woman from Lusaka West is on the brink of losing her 14-year marriage simply because she seized her husband’s phone and blocked his beloved side chick.

Lameck Chirwa, a 39-year-old bricklayer, who shares five children with his wife, has declared his desire to part ways with Dina Namukwanya, aged 29. He claims her insults rival even the fervor of Nkana Football Club supporters. Chirwa presented his case at the Matero Local Court, describing their marriage as more acrimonious than the two PF factions of Edgar Lungu and Miles Sampa.

While he endured the insults directed at him and his mother, Chirwa drew the line at his wife blocking his girlfriend on his phone. He also mentioned that she had repeatedly questioned the paternity of their children due to alleged issues with his manhood.

Furthermore, Chirwa shared that his wife had a habit of visiting his mother’s house to insult her and even suggested that he should sleep with his mother if he wanted children.

Chirwa tolerated all this since 2007, until his wife interfered with his potential second wife by blocking her on his phone. This led him to report the matter to her aunt and file for divorce in the Matero Local Court.

Namukwanya, however, expressed her love for her husband and opposed divorce. She explained that she blocked his girlfriend because he spent most of his time with her, only returning when he served her with the divorce summons.

She also admitted to insulting Chirwa and his mother, attributing it to her short temper. Namukwanya’s aunt testified that the couple was generally happy, but issues arose when Chirwa had a girlfriend, causing her niece to react with insults.

Magistrate Harriet Mulenga adjourned the case to November 10, 2023, for submission, judgment, and potential reconciliation.
